National Tournament in Rochester, MN, July 30-August 3!

We
finished 4-2, with a 3rd place finish overall. We saved
some of our best softball for last, taking the eventual
State champs to extra innings! We had them on the ropes,
with a chance to win the game in regulation. The great
news is, as a top 3 finisher, our team qualified for
the Northern National Tournament in Rochester, MN, July
30-August 3. Our players, parents and coaches are VERY
excited about this tremendous opportunity and looking
forward to representing Waukee and the State of Iowa.
Our overall record for the season was 25-5. The girls
have far-exceeded ALL expectations! We couldn't be prouder
of this team and the way they came together to accomplish
all they did. It's a great 'softball family'!

For
the second tournament in a row, we met Johnston Gold
in the championship. We avenged our one-run loss to
them 2 weeks ago in Waukee, beating them 9-2. Ellie
G. pitched 3-2/3 great innings and Taylor H. came in
to close the deal in the 4th, 5th and 6th. The team
saved their best hitting for the last two innings, breaking
a 2-2 tie, with 7 unanswered runs!

We
went 4-0 on the weekend and won the tournament on criteria.
We scored 66 runs in four games and held our opponents
to just one run. All the girls really stepped up their
hitting this weekend! Our pitching was excellent. In
four games, Taylor H. and Ellie G. combined to allow
just one hit. The weather actually held out for us both
Saturday and Sunday, allowing us to get all the games
in.
